You’re treating everything like it matters equally (it doesn’t)

Why simplifying your focus isn’t laziness — it’s one of the smartest growth decisions you can make

Hey Reader,

Let me just get this out there, right off the bat:

Some of your work matters more than the rest.

There’s something I notice a lot with work-from-home entrepreneurs — especially women. And it's our tendency to "default" to adding more when something starts working.

More ideas.
More platforms.
More projects.
More things to “keep up with.”

At first, it can feel productive.

But eventually, everything starts competing for your time, attention, and energy equally.

And that’s exhausting.

So, what's the alternative?

This week, I’ve been thinking about the 80/20 Rule — the idea that a small percentage of your efforts usually creates the majority of your results.

Not in a corporate “optimize every second of your life” kind of way 😄

But in a very real-life WFH kind of way.

Because when you’re building a business inside a full life …

you simply do not have unlimited energy.

Which means you have to be intentional when you choose the best use of your energy. And that's easier when you realize that not everything deserves equal attention.

I get it ... that can feel uncomfortable at first.

Many of us were taught:

  • hard work equals value
  • being busy means being responsible
  • effort should look visible

So intentionally focusing on fewer things can feel suspiciously like “not doing enough.”

But honestly?

It’s often the opposite.

It’s discernment.

And discernment is what helps sustainable growth feel lighter instead of heavier.

This is exactly what I unpacked in this week’s article:

The Simplest Way to Apply the 80/20 Rule in Your WFH Business

I shared a very honest backyard zucchini story 😄 along with a simple way to identify the small percentage of work that’s actually creating the biggest impact in your business.

If you’ve been feeling stretched thin lately, I think it’ll resonate.

But even if you don’t click through today, here’s the part I want you to carry with you this week:

Not everything in your business deserves equal energy.

Some things create momentum.
Some things maintain momentum.
And some things simply fill space.

Learning to recognize the difference?

That changes everything

Your Action Step this Week

Take a few quiet minutes and ask yourself:

What 20% of my work creates the biggest impact in my business right now?

Look for:

  • what consistently creates results
  • what builds momentum
  • what feels meaningful and effective

Then ask yourself:

What would happen if I intentionally protected more time and energy for those things?

Because growth becomes much simpler when you stop trying to carry everything at the same weight.

And friend?

You’re allowed to make your work lighter where you can.

💛 Michele

Why being busy isn’t the same as making progress (especially working from home) Hey Reader, There’s a moment that happens in almost every work-from-home week … You’ve been moving all day. Answering emails. Checking things off. Starting and finishing small tasks in between everything else life is asking of you. And at the end of the day, you think: “I was busy … so why does it feel like nothing really moved forward?” If you’ve ever had that thought, you’re not alone. And more importantly?...

How to Support What’s Already Working in Your Business So It Grows Stronger (Without You Working Harder) Hey Reader, Every spring, I have the same moment in my garden. Things are growing. Really growing. And my instinct is to do more ... Adjust. Tweak. Improve. Be useful. 😄 But over time, I’ve learned something important: Not all help is actually helpful. Some support makes things stronger. While some … just gets in the way. And the difference isn’t about doing more or less. It’s about giving...

How to Recognize When Your Business Is Ready to Grow … and When It’s Not Hey Reader, Last weekend, I did what I always do this time of year … I got a little over-enthusiastic in the garden. 🌱✨ Everything was sprouting — tiny green shoots, new life everywhere — and it felt like progress. Like possibility. So naturally, I started thinning things out. Deciding what should stay, what needed more space … and what I could move somewhere “better.” Every year, I have the same thought: “I’ll just move...
