The One Appointment That Changes Everything Hey Reader, Have you ever noticed how easy it is to protect everyone else's time ... while treating your own as completely optional? Most of us wouldn't think twice about showing up for a client meeting. We'd be there a few minutes early, notebook in hand, ready to listen, ask good questions, and help move things forward. But when the appointment is with ourselves? That's often the first thing to disappear when life gets busy. I've been thinking about that a lot lately because I almost cancelled one of my own recurring appointments: my weekly CEO Meeting. No one else was expecting me. No one would have known if I skipped it. And that's exactly why it would have been so easy to let it slide. The truth is, running a business isn't just about completing tasks. It's about creating space to step back, notice what's changing, and make thoughtful decisions before little problems become big ones. That's leadership. If you've ever felt like you're constantly busy but rarely have time to think, you're not alone. Many work-from-home entrepreneurs spend their days responding to emails, serving clients, creating content, and juggling responsibilities. Those things matter. But leadership asks a different question: What deserves my attention right now? That simple shift has changed the way I look at my calendar. If you'd like to read more about the idea behind my weekly CEO Meeting β and why I believe every work-from-home entrepreneur needs one β you'll find the full story in this week's article, Why Every WFH Entrepreneur Needs a Weekly CEO Meeting with Herself.β Whether you read the full article or not, here's the thought I hope you'll carry with you this week: Leadership doesn't happen after your work is finished. Leadership is what helps you decide which work deserves your attention in the first place. That's why I'm beginning to think of my calendar a little differently. Instead of only scheduling work, I'm scheduling leadership. And that one recurring appointment might be the most valuable hour of my week. Your Action Step this WeekChoose one 30- to 60-minute block on your calendar this week and give it a name. I suggest "CEO Meeting." Treat it exactly as you would an appointment with your most important client. Bring a notebook. A cup of coffee. And one simple question: What would the CEO of YOU, Inc. choose? You don't have to solve every challenge. You don't have to leave with a perfect plan. Just show up for the meeting. Because sometimes the most valuable thing a CEO does isn't working harder. It's creating enough space to think. π Insider & VIP CornerThis month's CEO Meeting Agenda Mini Power Tool is available exclusively for Tenacious WFH Entrepreneur Insiders and VIPs. Connected Doesn't Mean Constantly Available The lesson I brought home from a week when my laptop never left my tote bag. Hey Reader, When we left for our week in Cayucos, I packed my laptop. Not because I planned to work. But because ... well ... just in case. Just in case inspiration struck. Just in case something urgent came up. Just in case there was an emergency that couldn't wait until I got home. That laptop rode all the way to the beach in my tote bag. And then it stayed there. For the...
The Invisible Report Card Hey Reader, Last week, I found myself looking at my to-do list at the end of the day and mentally calculating how I'd done ... Did I finish everything? Did I make enough progress? Did I accomplish what I planned to accomplish? Before I even realized it, I had started assigning the day a grade. Maybe not literally. But definitely in spirit. And that's when I caught myself. Why am I still grading my days? Because the funny thing is, I haven't been in school for a very...
Different Days Need Different Plans Hey Reader, As I write this, our upcoming week in Cayucos is getting closer. And while I'm looking forward to the beach, the ocean air, and a genuine break from work, I've also noticed something interesting. The week before a vacation doesn't feel like a normal week. Projects need to be wrapped up earlier. Content needs to be scheduled in advance. Loose ends need attention. Somewhere between checking my packing list and making sure everything is ready, I...
