The mistake we make when results take longer than expected

Why the Space Between Effort and Results Feels So Uncomfortable — and What To Do About It

Hey Reader,

There comes a point in almost every business owner's journey when things start to feel a little confusing.

You're showing up.

You're doing the work.

You're staying consistent.

You're focusing on the right things.

And yet ...

The results don't seem to match the effort you're putting in.

Not yet, anyway.

If you've ever found yourself wondering whether something is wrong because progress feels slower than you'd like, you're not alone.

In fact, I think it's one of the most common challenges work-from-home entrepreneurs face.

Because when you're building a business alongside family responsibilities, appointments, household tasks, and everything else life throws your way, it's natural to want some visible proof that your effort is paying off.

And when that proof doesn't arrive as quickly as you'd hoped?

Self-doubt starts looking for an invitation to come for a visit.

Slow Progress and No Progress Are Not the Same Thing

One thing I've noticed over the years is that we often treat slow progress and lack of progress as if they're the same thing.

But they're not.

Slow progress means you're still moving forward.

You're still learning.

Still building.

Still growing.

The pace may not be what you hoped for, but that doesn't automatically mean you're headed in the wrong direction.

This is exactly what inspired this week's article:

When Progress Feels Slower Than You'd Like (But You're Not Actually Off Track)

If you've been questioning whether your efforts are paying off, I think you'll find it reassuring — and practical.

But even if you don't click through today, here's the thought I hope you'll carry with you this week:

Many of the most important things in business happen before you can see them.

Trust builds before referrals happen.

Relationships deepen before opportunities appear.

Consistency compounds before momentum becomes obvious.

And confidence often develops long before results fully catch up.

Some of the most meaningful growth happens quietly.

Which makes it easy to underestimate.

Your Action Step this Week

Think about one area of your business where progress feels slower than you'd like right now.

Then ask yourself:

👉 What evidence do I have that this is actually working?

👉 Am I responding to evidence... or to discomfort?

👉 What would it look like to keep going for another month before making a major change?

Write down your answers.

You may discover that you're much further along than you think.

Because sometimes the problem isn't that you're off track.

Sometimes you're simply expecting visible results before they've had enough time to catch up with your effort.

And those are two very different things.

💛 Michele

Why simplifying your focus isn’t laziness — it’s one of the smartest growth decisions you can make Hey Reader, Let me just get this out there, right off the bat: Some of your work matters more than the rest. There’s something I notice a lot with work-from-home entrepreneurs — especially women. And it's our tendency to "default" to adding more when something starts working. More ideas.More platforms.More projects.More things to “keep up with.” At first, it can feel productive. But eventually,...

Why being busy isn’t the same as making progress (especially working from home) Hey Reader, There’s a moment that happens in almost every work-from-home week … You’ve been moving all day. Answering emails. Checking things off. Starting and finishing small tasks in between everything else life is asking of you. And at the end of the day, you think: “I was busy … so why does it feel like nothing really moved forward?” If you’ve ever had that thought, you’re not alone. And more importantly?...

How to Support What’s Already Working in Your Business So It Grows Stronger (Without You Working Harder) Hey Reader, Every spring, I have the same moment in my garden. Things are growing. Really growing. And my instinct is to do more ... Adjust. Tweak. Improve. Be useful. 😄 But over time, I’ve learned something important: Not all help is actually helpful. Some support makes things stronger. While some … just gets in the way. And the difference isn’t about doing more or less. It’s about giving...
