Busy isn’t the problem 🐝 (this is)

Why being busy isn’t the same as making progress (especially working from home)

Hey Reader,

There’s a moment that happens in almost every work-from-home week …

You’ve been moving all day.

Answering emails. Checking things off. Starting and finishing small tasks in between everything else life is asking of you.

And at the end of the day, you think:

“I was busy … so why does it feel like nothing really moved forward?”

If you’ve ever had that thought, you’re not alone.

And more importantly?

There’s nothing wrong with you.

Here’s what most of us were never taught:

Not all work is created equal.

Some of what you do in your business creates real momentum.

It leads to conversations. It builds trust. It moves things forward — even if it’s in small, steady ways.

And some of what you do?

It keeps things running … but not growing.

It fills the time you have. It makes you feel productive. But it doesn’t actually change where you’re going.

When you’re working from home — where your time and energy are already divided — that difference matters even more.

Because you don’t have unlimited hours to “figure it out.”

You need your effort to count.

This is exactly what I unpacked in this week’s article: Not All Work Is Equal: How to Identify What Actually Grows Your Business

If you’ve been feeling busy but not seeing the progress you expected, this will help you understand why — and what to shift (without doing more).

But even if you don’t read another word this week…

Here’s the part I want you to take with you:

👉 Progress doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from doing what matters.

And that starts with one simple question:

“What actually moves things forward in my business?”

Your Action Step this Week

Take 10–15 quiet minutes (yes, even if you have to claim them intentionally).

Ask yourself:

What are 3 things I do in my business that actually create forward movement?

Not guesses. Not “I should probably…”

Real evidence.

Then make this your focus:

👉 “These are my priorities this week.”

Let the rest be … less important.

Because when you focus on the right things:

✔ Your work feels more meaningful
✔ Your time feels better used
✔ And you start trusting your decisions more

How to Support What’s Already Working in Your Business So It Grows Stronger (Without You Working Harder) Hey Reader, Every spring, I have the same moment in my garden. Things are growing. Really growing. And my instinct is to do more ... Adjust. Tweak. Improve. Be useful. 😄 But over time, I’ve learned something important: Not all help is actually helpful. Some support makes things stronger. While some … just gets in the way. And the difference isn’t about doing more or less. It’s about giving...

How to Recognize When Your Business Is Ready to Grow … and When It’s Not Hey Reader, Last weekend, I did what I always do this time of year … I got a little over-enthusiastic in the garden. 🌱✨ Everything was sprouting — tiny green shoots, new life everywhere — and it felt like progress. Like possibility. So naturally, I started thinning things out. Deciding what should stay, what needed more space … and what I could move somewhere “better.” Every year, I have the same thought: “I’ll just move...

Before You Change Anything, Take a Closer Look at What’s Already Working Hey Reader, A few weeks ago, I made limoncello from scratch. Nothing fancy — just lemons from our backyard, a carefully chosen vodka (my winemaker husband took that part very seriously 😄), sugar, water … and time. It turned out really good. So I gave a bottle to my mom, and a few days later she texted: “Did you REALLY make this … because it’s SO good!” After we cleared up that she wasn’t accusing me of secretly buying...
