The secret to protecting your time (without feeling selfish)

How to Set Boundaries That Protect Your Focus and Energy

Hey Reader,

I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel like my workday gets hijacked by other people’s needs. Does this sound familiar?

You sit down to tackle your priorities, but before you know it, you're answering “quick” requests, putting out fires, or saying “yes” to things that weren’t on your radar.

The result? You’re exhausted, frustrated, and wondering where the day went.

I've found that the solution is setting better boundaries.

Setting boundaries isn’t about being rude or unavailable — it’s about protecting your focus and energy so you can get things done without burnout. It's like building a beautiful fence that defines and protects your yard.

Here are a few simple ways to start:

Time-Block Like a Boss – Set specific times for focused work, email responses, and meetings. Protect your deep work time like an important client appointment — because it is that imporant!

Use a Go-To Phrase – If you struggle to say no, try: "I’d love to help, but I’m fully booked right now. Can we revisit this next week?" or "I can’t take this on, but here’s a resource that might help!"

Train Others to Respect Your Time – If family or friends interrupt your work hours, set clear expectations: "I’m working until [time], but after that, I’m all yours!"

Want more strategies and real-life scripts to make this even easier? I’ve got you covered in this week’s blog post:
The WFH Entrepreneur’s Guide to Setting Boundaries Without Guilt.

You’ve got important work to do. Let’s make sure you have the time and space to actually do it. 💪

Take 10 Minutes to Celebrate the Progress You Might Be Missing Hey Reader, It’s the end of June. The end of Q2. And, yep — somehow the year is already halfway over. Whether the last few months were a blur or a bit of a slog, now is the perfect time to pause and take a breath. Because if you’re anything like most WFH entrepreneurs I know, you’re probably doing a lot more than you’re giving yourself credit for. And when you’re juggling it all — running the business, building the brand, doing...

Don’t Wait for a Big Event to Reach Out Hey Reader, Working from home can be empowering … but also a little isolating. And during summer — when people are vacationing, kids are home, and routines shift — it’s easy to fall into solo mode without even realizing it. That’s where this "trick" I discovered with milestones comes in ... Yes, we usually think of milestones as personal progress markers. But here’s a reframe: Milestones can be powerful prompts for connection, too. This week’s blog...

Celebrate More. Hustle Less Hey Reader, Ever seen a toddler take their first step? The room erupts. Clapping, cheering, maybe even tears. One tiny step … and we instinctively know it’s a big deal. But somewhere between baby steps and business plans, we stop celebrating progress like that. We wait for big milestones — the revenue leap, the launch, the polished result — and skip right past the smaller wins that actually get us there. This week, I want to challenge that. Because when you’re...
