It Takes Just 8 Minutes to Be a Good Friend If the link to play the video above isn't working, click here to watch. Like Simon, I would feel awful if a friend needed me and I didn't recognize that need and wasn't there to offer my help and support. You're probably the same, Reader. I imagine most of us share this trait and the core value behind it. So were you as surprised as me to find out that our friends can feel supported in as little as just 8 minutes? That's right ... All we need is just 8 minutes of time from a friend to feel not alone in times of crisis or stress or need. The beauty of this is that, as Simon says, anyone can carve out just 8 minutes for a phone call to support a friend. So, it's doable. It's easily doable. But we need to make sure all our friends know how to trigger it so that we know when they need our 8 minutes. How? I invite you to join me in adopting the code Simon and his friends use: "Do you have 8 minutes?" When we see a text that says "Do you have 8 minutes?" we'll know that's code for "I need your support." And then we'll call to see what's going on as soon as we can. Another reason why I see this working so well is that 8 minutes is a small time commitment. We all have those people in our lives that we love but who LOVE to TALK! You know them ... the ones who are still talking an hour after you get on the phone with them ... and it's awkward to wrap it up and get off the call. The 8-minute code gives the call a time limit. And if that first 8 minutes isn't enough, then we can figure out a time to get together for longer. Connection is important. It's one of our basic human needs, and it's as essential to our well-being as food, water, and shelter. The 8-minute code will help strengthen your connection with others ... both in giving support and asking for it when you need it. So be a good friend ... spread the word and start using the code with your friends and family. Why not take 8 minutes now to start telling people? Sustainable Work From Home Productivity in Real Life Reader, there’s something almost automatic that happens when a routine starts to feel harder. We assume it’s us. We think things like: “I was doing so well.” “What’s wrong with me?” “I need a better system.” But most of the time? Nothing is wrong. Your energy shifted. Your season changed. Life interrupted. Your capacity adjusted. And instead of recalibrating, we scrap the whole thing — very “new planner, new app, new Monday” energy. But...
Small Repetition Is Stronger Than You Think Reader, there’s something I’ve noticed about confidence — especially for women who work from home. We think it comes from momentum ... From having a “good week.”From finishing everything on the list. From feeling motivated and clear and energized. But that kind of confidence is fragile. It disappears the minute life interrupts. And life will interrupt. Real confidence isn’t built in big moments. It’s built in small repetition. It’s built the day you...
WFH Consistency Without Burnout: Building Work Rhythms You Can Actually Sustain Hi Reader, For a long time, I thought consistency meant sameness. Same wake-up time. Same workflow. Same level of energy. Every day. And if my energy dipped midweek or life interrupted? I assumed I was the problem. But here’s what I’ve learned (the hard way): When you work from home, your days are not controlled environments. They ebb and flow. Interruptions happen. Energy shifts. And midlife responsibilities...
