Give It the Right Support (and Watch What Happens) 🌱

How to Support What’s Already Working in Your Business So It Grows Stronger (Without You Working Harder)

Hey Reader,

Every spring, I have the same moment in my garden.

Things are growing. Really growing.

And my instinct is to do more ...

Adjust. Tweak. Improve. Be useful. 😄

But over time, I’ve learned something important:

Not all help is actually helpful.

Some support makes things stronger. While some … just gets in the way.

And the difference isn’t about doing more or less.

It’s about giving things the right kind of support.

That same pattern shows up in our businesses more often than we realize.

When something starts working — when you see a little traction, a little momentum — your next instinct is usually:

👉 “How can I build on this?”
👉 “What should I add?”
👉 “How do I make this even better?”

Which sounds smart.

But here’s the shift I want you to consider this week:

Growth doesn’t need more effort.
It needs the right structure, a little guidance … and space to grow.

If this is hitting close to home, I went deeper into this in this week’s article — including the difference between supporting, controlling, and accidentally neglecting what’s working.

👉 You can read the full article here: How to Support What’s Working in Your Business (Without Doing Too Much)

But before you click away, here’s the part that really matters:

Support isn’t about doing more.
It’s about setting things up in a way that allows growth to happen more easily.

Think of it like this:

A tomato plant will grow on its own.

But when you give it the right support early — a simple cage — it grows stronger, stays contained, and becomes much easier to manage later.

Not because you kept adjusting it …

but because you gave it what it needed from the start — and then let it grow.

Your Action Step this Week

Choose one thing that’s working in your business right now.

Not something to fix. Not something to expand.

Just something that’s working.

Now ask yourself:

👉 “What kind of support would help this grow more easily?”

Then choose one small action (use one of these or whatever makes sense for you):

  • Add a simple structure
  • Create a repeatable step
  • Set a supportive boundary
  • Or … simply give it space to keep growing

And follow through.

How to Recognize When Your Business Is Ready to Grow … and When It’s Not Hey Reader, Last weekend, I did what I always do this time of year … I got a little over-enthusiastic in the garden. 🌱✨ Everything was sprouting — tiny green shoots, new life everywhere — and it felt like progress. Like possibility. So naturally, I started thinning things out. Deciding what should stay, what needed more space … and what I could move somewhere “better.” Every year, I have the same thought: “I’ll just move...

Before You Change Anything, Take a Closer Look at What’s Already Working Hey Reader, A few weeks ago, I made limoncello from scratch. Nothing fancy — just lemons from our backyard, a carefully chosen vodka (my winemaker husband took that part very seriously 😄), sugar, water … and time. It turned out really good. So I gave a bottle to my mom, and a few days later she texted: “Did you REALLY make this … because it’s SO good!” After we cleared up that she wasn’t accusing me of secretly buying...

You Don’t Need a Bigger Plate — Just Better Decisions Reader, last weekend, I stood in my backyard staring at my raised garden beds, seriously considering adding another one. More space. More plants. More possibility. It sounded like a great idea. But instead, I stayed with what I already had — and made myself do the harder thing: I chose what actually deserved to be planted. And I’ll be honest … that felt a lot more uncomfortable than building another bed. Because choosing means not choosing...
