You’re not starting over this January

Anchored, Not Restarting: A Gentler Way to Begin the Year in Your Business

It happens quietly, doesn’t it Reader?

You sit down to work in January — same desk, same business, same capable brain — and yet you feel just a little off. Not unmotivated. Not stuck. Just not fully back in rhythm yet.

And almost immediately, that familiar pressure creeps in:
Shouldn’t I feel more ready than this?

If that thought has crossed your mind this week, I want to gently reframe it for you.

You’re not starting over. You’re picking up the thread.

That distinction matters — especially in January, when so much productivity advice assumes we all need a clean slate, a reset, or a total overhaul. For experienced work-from-home women entrepreneurs, that kind of pressure often backfires. We don’t need reinvention. We need re-orientation.

January works best when it’s about finding your footing again — reconnecting with what already works, rebuilding rhythm, and choosing steadiness over speed.

About now, you may notice that urge to add things back in: new plans, new goals, new systems. But stability usually doesn’t come from adding more. It comes from identifying one place you can reliably return to when things feel scattered.

I wrote more about this in this week’s blog article, “Anchoring in the New Year, Not Restarting.”

If you’d like a deeper dive into why orientation matters more than improvement right now — and how to re-enter your business without pressure — I’d love for you to read it.

Before you click away, though, let’s make this practical.

Your Action Step this Week

Set aside 10–15 quiet minutes and do just this:

  • Name where your business actually is right now (no editing, no judging).
  • List three things already holding you steady.
  • Choose one anchor — a system, rhythm, or focus you’ll return to when things feel unsteady.
  • Decide what “productive enough” looks like for you this week.

That’s it. No planning sprint. No reset required.

And if you’d like a calm, printable way to do this, I created this month’s Mini Power Tool: The Business Anchor Sheet specifically for this purpose. It’s available exclusively to Tenacious WFH Insiders and VIPs, along with access to the full archive of past tools — all designed to support steady, sustainable momentum without hustle.

If you’re ready for that kind of support this season, upgrading is always optional and always there when you need it. (Click here to learn more.)

For now, remember this:

January doesn’t need your urgency.
It responds best to your steadiness.

You’ve got this — even if you’re still finding your rhythm.

When Growth Feels Possible — But You Don’t Want to Burn Out Hey Reader, A funny thing happens around this time of year ... After the slow start of January and the rhythm-finding of February, March often brings a subtle shift. A little more energy. A little more clarity. You might find yourself thinking: “I think I’m ready for more.” More visibility.More opportunities.Maybe even more income. And that can be exciting. But if you’re anything like many experienced work-from-home entrepreneurs,...

Sustainable Work From Home Productivity in Real Life Reader, there’s something almost automatic that happens when a routine starts to feel harder. We assume it’s us. We think things like: “I was doing so well.” “What’s wrong with me?” “I need a better system.” But most of the time? Nothing is wrong. Your energy shifted. Your season changed. Life interrupted. Your capacity adjusted. And instead of recalibrating, we scrap the whole thing — very “new planner, new app, new Monday” energy. But...

Small Repetition Is Stronger Than You Think Reader, there’s something I’ve noticed about confidence — especially for women who work from home. We think it comes from momentum ... From having a “good week.”From finishing everything on the list. From feeling motivated and clear and energized. But that kind of confidence is fragile. It disappears the minute life interrupts. And life will interrupt. Real confidence isn’t built in big moments. It’s built in small repetition. It’s built the day you...
